bitter sweet

today i say "see you next time" to my mom and dad - that's the bitter part =(

but after a loooooong flight then a short one, i say "salut" to the love of my life - that's the sweet part =)  living far away from family never gets any easier, but i'm so thankful for times like these where i can spend a whole month with them

here are some pictures to tide you over during the radio silence that will ensue :

daddy i went drove down near LAX to the Proud Bird to celebrate my Uncle Marty's 70th birthday

clean waves, no crowd, fun day - 5th time baby surfed

attempted self-timer picture

a nice passer-by asked if she could help take the picture

my cousin's son Chase shares his bottle with Cody - ha !

and my beautiful cousin Lisa who came up to visit me

enjoyed a taco and donut evening with these 2 lovebirds, my good friend Julie and her man Dave

i got in one more jazzercise session with my mama - she's hard core, 2 to 5 times a week

and yes, i gave in twice and let the fur balls sleep with me

Mama and Daddy, I have enjoyed every moment with you guys.  I knew it would fly by - every good thing seems to do that.  Thank you for being such wonderful parents, so loving AND fun-loving!  Surfing, jazzercising, baby shower, road trip up north, neighborhood dog walks, bike ride to Starbucks, movie nights, party night, church, front porch bench swing chats, meals with Jack, groggy morning oatmeal hang out...

I love you both so much, and I look forward to seeing you guys again very soon.  You are going to be the most wonderful grand parents... oh my goodness, I can't even imagine!!!  =)

Now.... Nice, France or bust!
I miss my handsome other half!!!!

ps - I am currently 20 weeks pregnant (5 months), so apparently our little munchkin is the size and weight of a banana... see more HERE.

keep me a child

My friend crystal showed me this video last week, and I can't stop thinking about it.  The pursuing Fatherly love of God towards us is pretty insane by human standards.  I may have had misty eyes at the end.

I hope you enjoy.

visit to Roseville

to see my brother Tanner and his beautiful wife Sarah

leaving at 5am was very doable since my thoughtful dad made the pregnant lady a bed in the car - i woke up after the grapevine

 view out the back window

there truly isn't much between LA and Sacramento

7 hours later...  the new home of the 2 love birds

we visited a museum on the history of Roseville - the railroads definitely put this place on the map

and I tripped out at old school 3-D goggles

 Tanner : old meets new

a model of the city from many years ago

a replica of an bomb explosion in 1973; the train was carrying over 7,000 bombs for Vietnam

dance class from an early 1900s high school year book

the gang : me, mom, Tanner, Sarah, dad

 hey, no loitering

 theatre

 my and my sis-in-law

one of their doggies, Stella, in the backyard

2 inspectors and a weeder in the front yard

getting ready to go pannin' for them there gold nuggets pebbles flakes dust =)

 pans

American river here we come... that tall bridge is apparently in many movies, including THIS ONE

Tan and Sarah lead the way

we were so happy to get time with these guys in their new stomping grounds east of Sacramento

classic - my dad holding coffee; my mom holding drift wood

me and baby floating in the river

 my dad's turn

the gold panners makin' us all rich - haha

 lunch break {yes, i'm wearing a napkin as a visor}

i think Sarah found the most gold flakes; i was surprised at how much we actually found... droughts = low rivers and lakes = more gold findings

letting the bébé have some sun

rock dancing as opposed to river dancing

 my cute mama and me

 determined

and here we are after a lovely day at the river

Thanks so much Tanner and Sarah for your hospitality and for showing us around your new home sweet home.
